- Abate, Dr. Ann
- Executive Director, Greater Cincinnati Library Consortium; Executive Director, SAALCK
A long-time member of the Cincinnati library community, Anne has worked in various libraries during her career. She has been the Executive Director of the Greater Cincinnati Library Consortium since the summer of 2004. While overseeing the day to day operations of this cooperative organization, Anne also coordinates the programs, services, and activities for the members. She also serves as the Executive Director of SAALCK. Before her position at GCLC, Anne worked as the director of marketing for a large corporation, and held positions in libraries including legal, academic, public, and special libraries. She also teaches in the areas of information science for the University of Kentucky and information technology for Xavier University. Anne holds a bachelors degree from Xavier University, a masters degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Kentucky, and a doctorate in Computer Technology from Nova Southeastern University. - Presenting: "Licensing Electronic Content Through Cooperative Agreements"

Eva Allen has over 25 years of software development experience. Her work has familiarized her with various flavors of the UNIX operating system, including System V, SunOS, AIX and HP-UX and her professional software development has been in the major languages Fortran IV, C, C++, and Java and numerous minor languages. She began her career as a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories and is currently a Consulting Software Engineer at OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. She has worked with the shibboleth core team and managed the OCLC shibboleth pilot program for the past two years. Joni has been the Assistant Director of Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning since Fall 2001. The Delphi Center is UofL's designated office of distance education where Joni's team provides student support services as well as provide faculty support on instructional design for web based instruction. Prior to coming to UofL, Joni was the Director of Distance Learning at Roane State Community College in Harriman Tennessee for 9 years, where she worked primarily in ITV and with telecourses and began the shift to online learning. Iain Barksdale is Assistant Director for Information Technology and Professor of Library Services. Mr. Bendl has been in the computer industry since 1983, and currently holds the position of Web Team Lead / Web Master at the University of Louisville. He's been active on the University's ADA Compliance Committee since January of 2003, working toward creating awareness, guidelines, publishing tools, and training to promote accessible web content. Kurt's team provides technical support for the Blackboard Learning Management System and UofL's PeopleSoft web infrastructure, as well as support and maintenance for most of the University's web services and streaming media infrastructure. Dwayne K. Buttler serves as the first Evelyn J. Schneider Endowed Chair for Scholarly Communication at the University of Louisville and holds a faculty appointment as a Professor in University Libraries. Much of his work focuses on the complex interrelationship of copyright law, licensing, and activities at the core of the university and library mission - teaching, learning, and scholarly communication. Professor Buttler earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis and holds a BA in Telecommunications from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. George joined Cisco in August 1999 as Region Manager for St. Louis Named Accounts. For four years he was responsible for a team supporting accounts with $1Billion or greater in annual revenues. As Region Manager he focused primarily on the business issues that governed technology decisions in large accounts. In his current role, George meets regularly with IT management to discuss important business issues such as policy definition, legislation and audit compliance, business resilience, limiting liability, and other critical factors in managing and mitigating risk. Previous to Cisco, George held management positions at Novell and Wang Laboratories. George is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. Ann Doyle serves as Internet2 Manager for Arts and Humanities Initiatives. Her accomplishments include working with campuses across the nation to produce master classes and performance events enabled by high-speed networking. She has been the executive producer of the two largest collaborations in the performing arts over Internet2; "Virtual Halloween at the Rialto" on Georgia State University's campus, and "Cultivating Communities: Dance in the Digital Age" on the University of Southern California campus. Ann has been a featured speaker at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters' annual conference in New York, the Internet Society's Annual Conference in Stockholm, the Los Angeles Museum Educators Consortium, and numerous U.S. campuses interested in the application of Internet2 in performing arts and humanities education. Before joining Internet2, Ann's focus was on coordinating technology services for the arts and humanities schools at the University of Michigan. Ann has a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Michigan. Phil Duvall, Sr. is the System Director for Network Operations at the Kentucky and Community Technical College System (KCTCS). Duvall's role at KCTCS is to provide leadership and direction in network technologies that are focused on the convergence of voice, data and video application transport. Prior to his current position, he was employed as the Executive Director for Network Practices at QCI in Louisville, KY and served as the Director of Communications Services in Information Technology at the University of Louisville. He has also held positions with AT&T and Bellsouth in various technical capacities. He has been involved in communications technology for over 35 years. Today, he works on strategic projects for KCTCS involving the Council on Post-secondary Education, the Commonwealth Office of Technology, and The Center for Rural Development, Connect Kentucky IT Steering Committee, and other state research and comprehensive colleges and state agencies to build solutions that utilize network technology to support education throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Duvall has been involved in many statewide task force initiatives involving network technology to support higher education and state initiatives since 1986. He cites one of his most important accomplishments as his teamwork with colleagues throughout the state in the development and deployment of the Kentucky Post-secondary Education Network (KPEN) which enables the convergence of voice, data and video network applications onto a single network transport. Bryce Fields is the webmaster for the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, whose family of websites includes 11 distinct web presences. Leaving his life as a botanist for the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission behind, Bryce joined the development team at GEAppliances.com in 2001 where he was a web developer and later TeamSite Administrator. After GE, Bryce came to work with Kentucky Virtual University as a web developer and WebCT coordinator before eventually accepting the role of webmaster for the Council in January 2005. Over the years, Bryce has evolved into what friends affectionately refer to as a "standardsista", placing great value on the merits that adherance to open web standards brings to accessibility, usabiltiy, and reliability of today's web, and trumpeting his message to anyone who has ears. When not chained to his keyboard, Bryce likes to relax by taking to his bicycle on long, grueling rides through the backroads of the Bluegrass or by capturing little slices of exisistence through the lens of his camera. - Presenting: "Having It All: Advanced Web Accessibility at KYVL"

In his day job, Louis Fox is Vice Provost for Partnerships and Learning Technologies at the University of Washington and a research professor in the Information School, where he has been for the last twenty years and has held numerous academic and administrative posts, all with obscure titles. The office he leads connects the research and education expertise of the UW to a range of communities - locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally; to develop and diffuse new learning technologies. Lacking hobbies, Fox also leads a national Internet2 K20 Initiative, which brings together Internet2 members (180 research institutions) with primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, libraries, and museums to get new technology-advanced networking tools, content, and applications into the hands of innovators, across all educational sectors in the United States, as quickly and as "connectedly" as possible, and to connect those innovators to similar communities around the globe. Gene Kleppinger is in charge of Online Learning at Eastern Kentucky University. He supervises the campus Blackboard system which serves every EKU class (creating 5500 course shells per semester and enrolling 15,000 students and 1200 faculty/staff), many campus organizations and administrative units. He also regularly teaches courses in philosophy (online) and honors (in a classroom). He also conducts many training workshops, and organizes the online IDEA process to obtain student ratings of instruction at EKU. He is coauthor, with Andrew Harnack, of Online! - Providenti, Michael
- Michael Providenti came to Northern Kentucky University in 1998 where he is currently Web Development Librarian. He has degrees in Literature, Art History (University of Cincinnati 1994), and Library Science (University of Kentucky 1998). In 2003 Michael redesigned Steely Library's Web site for standards and ADA compliancy. Since the redesign he has published on the topic in Kentucky Libraries (Summer 2004), D-Lib Magazine (September 2004), and Internet Reference Services Quarterly (March 2005). He has spoken on the topic at the LITA National Forum in St. Louis and has made presentations for Kentucky AHEAD and the Kentucky Library Association. Michael is a member of the American Library Association and the Guild of Accessible Web Designers.

Jack Stewart is currently the Directory Services and Indentity Provisioning engineer at the University of Louisville. Having graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Master's Degree in Library Science in 1992, he has held various positions in academic computing at both UofL and UK for the past 14 years. Since coming to UofL, he has served as team leader of the IT Computing Centers (student computer labs) and as team leader of the local area network group. Dr. Gay Sweely is a Lecturer in Art History at Eastern Kentucky University in the Department of Art & Design and also serves as the department's Visual Resource Curator. Originally from Chicago, she attended the Art Institute of Chicago Junior School while in grammar school and high school, later graduating from Illinois Wesleyan University (BA) and the University of Utah (MA), both in Art History. She received a PhD ad eundem from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, in architectural history, and dual PhDs from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in art history and architectural history. She has presented numerous papers in three different countries, is co-author and editor of Becoming Australians (2001), and has edited over 100 publications in three countries. Dr. Sweely was selected as Outstanding International Educator of the Year (Cambridge) in 2004 and is listed in Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who of American Educators (2004, 2005, and 2006). Gay is married to a systems architect at IBM and has two sons in computer-related pursuits. Michael Whiteman has worked in law libraries since 1993. He has worked at the Boston College School of Law, the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, and is currently an Associate Professor of Law and the Associate Dean for Law Library Services and Information Technology at the Chase College of Law. Michael's research interests include the impact of technology on the practice of law. He currently serves as an editor on the Journal of Law and Education. His most recent article is "Appellate Court Briefs on the Web: Electronic Dynamos or Legal Quagmire?" 97 Law Libr. J. 467 (2005).
